Regarding the employment of acupuncturists, ASNY has obtained a legal opinion from the assistant legal counsel for the New York State Education Department Office of Professions. It states that an L.Ac. may not be employed by person unqualified to supervise the practice of acupuncture in NY State. This means that only a licensed or certified (MD, DDS, DO) acupuncturist may legally employ a licensed acupuncturist.
